BRIEFLY IN ENGLISH Welcome to my website! My name is Anna-Kristiina Mikkonen, I'm a 23 years old social science student from Savonlinna, Finland. Since I was elected to the town council of Savonlinna in 2004, I've participated actively to the decision-making and politics by sharing my views as a councillor in the town council and as a vice member of the town government. In addition, I am a member of the cultural committee of the town of Savonlinna. In addition to the local politics, I have been making decisions in the board of the University of Joensuu as a student representative and in the various organs of the student union of the same university. In 2007, I ran for the Finnish Parliament as a candidate of the Social Democrats, and got 760 votes overall.
The things that I am interested in are foreign cultures and languages as well as politics. Thus, having graduated from the high school, I applied and got in to the University of Joensuu to study social sciences. My major is social politics, but I also study French language and culture as well as management. Currently, I am studying for the fifth year and aiming to finish my Master's degree within a couple of years.
To tell something about me as a private person, whenever I have leisure time I spend it on music and sports. My all-time favourite band is The Beatles, which is most probably something I've inherited from my mother. Additionally to listening music, I've played piano and sung in a choir for already more than ten years. My hobbies have provided me with the chance of performing for example at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, which has given me a lot confidence and memorable experiences.
